Questions Prepared By My Lawyer For Immigration Court Date Tomorrow

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...Image via WikipediaImmigration Court Date: June 6, 2011: Prepared Statement
June 3 Immigration Court Date

1. What is your name?

My name is Paramendra Bhagat.

2. Where were you born?

I was born in a hospital in the city of Darbhanga in the state of Bihar in India. I don't have a birth certificate. They don't do that where I grew up.

3. Why are you seeking asylum in the US?

I show up in Nepal and I am dead meat. My instincts tell me so. It is the same instincts that told me in February 2007 that Barack Obama was the next President of the United States.

4. By whom you fear for your life in Nepal?

There are a few different actors and groups that might want to harm me. The people who lost power in 2006, the Maoists who still dream of a one party dictatorship brought about by an armed revolution, rivals in the Madhesi groups, violent and nonviolent, who might be dead set in their own views and methods, separatist armed Madhesis.

5. Why do you think you will be subjected to political assassination?

I am high profile. I spent six months in jail in America for being the top Obama volunteer in the city of his primary rival. That was political. I was the only Nepali in America who did full time work for Nepal's democracy movement of 2006 and the Madhesi movement of 2007. That kind of visibility puts you in harm's way. If my political enemies in New York City can do what they did to me, what do you think my political enemies in Nepal will do?

Just Watched Amitabh's Deewar For The First Time

Just watched Amitabh's Deewar for the first time, I am surprised I had not seen it already.

Amitabh Bachchan: Deewar

I mean, I don't believe this. I grew up watching this dude. I am his evergreen fan. I don't think I have ever watched a full Paul Newman movie, and if I did I probably watched it when I had no idea who he was, maybe I have watched one, but I don't remember, but I have seen Americans revere Paul Newman. And recently I left a comment at TechCrunch.

Lincoln is like Gandhi. Paul Newsman is like Amitabh Bachchan, correct?

Who Is In The Room?

Slumdog Millionaire has spent three weeks at t...Image via WikipediaIf in a city that is 60% nonwhite, when you enter a room and almost everyone is white, and you are nonwhite, of course you notice. But then the term nonwhite does not define me. I am not non anything. The very term nonwhite is Eurocentric.
Topology: Wikipedia a major area of mathematics concerned with properties that are preserved under continuous deformations of objects, such as deformations that involve stretching, but no tearing or gluing. It emerged through the development of concepts from geometry and set theory, such as space, dimension, and transformation.
Ever since I was 10 I have mostly found myself in rooms where seeking cultural overlap was not exactly an option. Part of that is liberating. You enter into topology territory fast. The essence of what makes you human is not defined by if you have a limb or not. Cultural differences are a small matter compared to someone who might have missing legs.

My Favorite Thing About America

New York City Subway R TrainImage by NYCUrbanScape via FlickrMy absolutely, absolutely favorite thing about America by a wide margin are biracial and multiracial people with active, vibrant ties to their various heritages. And I have been saying this for almost a decade.

The New York City Subway

I used to say number two would be broadband. Number three would be New York City. But then that goes without saying. NYC is hometown for life. I have been everywhere in America, and I mean literally everywhere. When I look at a map of the US I see what you see when you look at the NYC subway map, if you have been many places in this city many times.

Hitting The Road

Just like I have been everywhere in America, I want to have gone everywhere in the world, but I need to put a few years to get my startups off the ground, first things first. And then global travel with broadband-always is going to be how I spend a few months every year. My microfinance outfit would demand something like that. There are somethings that you just have to see. Google Earth does not quite cut it.

Trending On Hacker News?

I had no idea. I just now saw this. And this blog post is from a while ago.

Use Of Social Media Is Like Physical Fitness

You probably got drilled into you early that exercise is good for you, and most people still just don't do it. Much of the social media message is to just do it.

Just like exercise takes many forms, so does social media. You can walk, you can jog, you can do freehand exercise. You can use the machines, the weights. You can go for fitness, or for bulk. You could train for the Olympics. You could train like Rocky. And this is where the social media experts come in. There is something called heavy hitting social media. Having a social media expert in house is like hiring a trainer. The boxers don't wing it, they hire people who help them train.

White Male Conspiracy To Drive Me Homeless

The Day I Got Called Sean Parker
Sean Parker, Billionaire, Was Really Poor Once
The Sean Parker Analogy

So I met this White Male at this NY Tech MeetUp after party months and months back. He called me Sean Parker. And I am like, now I am stuck. I have a reputation to live up to. I have not rented a place in months. I have been bouncing around.

The Proverbial White Male

I smell a white male conspiracy to drive me homeless.
