13: Tap Water

'Forever chemicals' invade tap water 45% of U.S. tap water includes "forever chemicals." Also known as PFAS, or per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substance, they're used in everyday products such as fast-food containers, dental floss and shampoo because of their oil-proof, waterproof, heat-resistant and stain-resistant properties. However, they've also been linked to health issues like cancer and reduced fertility. Americans living in urban areas are more likely to have tap water with traces of PFAS than those in rural areas .
