100b and too cheap is the floor for this deal. I think 200b is an appropriate offer based on the velocity of its current trajectory.

Apple executives held internal talks about buying Perplexity, Bloomberg News reports

When I first threw the number 100B, if Apple was already looking at Perplexity, it sure was not in the news. Now it is. But my number even then was a floor. 200B is more like it. Why? And it will still be cheap for Apple. Because Apple will lose 200B in market value in a year if it does not do the deal. So they will be getting Perplexity for free, essentially, even at 200B.

Size does not matter. Apple is on its way to irrelevance in five years if it does not merge with Perplexity. This is not a buying. This is a merger. "Giving Siri a brain," like Faraz puts it. I'd put it more bluntly. This is giving Apple a brain. I myself have mused if Tim Cook is the Steve Ballmer of Apple. He is, objectively speaking. Steve Ballmer missed the whole mobile thing. Except AI is more fundamental than the Internet itself. A better analogy would be Apple is the New York Times and it is refusing to get a website. Print papers all the way.

Tim Cook is an amazing COO, a legendary logistics guy. We all have our strengths. But imagination and creativity don't seem to be his things. Whereas Aravind's very demeanor is liquid.

Donald Trump's approval rating plunges in multiple polls In the Ipsos/Reuters poll, conducted between June 21-23 among 1,139 registered voters, Trump's net approval rating stood at -16 points, with 41 percent approving and 57 percent disapproving. ........ in the latest American Research Group poll, conducted June 17-20 among 1,100 adults, Trump's net approval rating hit -21 points, with 38 percent approving and 59 percent disapproving, down from a low of -14 points in the previous poll conducted in May. ....... The drop comes amid a broader downward trend in Trump's approval rating, which was particularly pronounced after his "Liberation Day" tariffs. But the question of direct U.S. involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran has visibly contributed to the drop as polls have shown the majority of voters do not support it. Trump ordered airstrikes against three key Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at a U.S. military base in Qatar on Monday. ....... The latest YouGov/Economist poll, conducted between June 13-16 among 1,512 adults, put Trump's approval rating at 41 percent, down 2 points since last week, with 54 percent disapproving, up 2 points.

Joe Rogan Speaks Out Against ICE Raids: 'That's Crazy' Joe Rogan has spoken out against ICE raids in a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, where he described them as "crazy" and said: "I don't think anybody would have signed up for that." ......... Rogan endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election and interviewed him on his podcast. He also attended Trump's inauguration. ........ Trump campaigned on a hardline immigration stance, pledging to carry out the largest mass deportation in American history. Trump's administration has said it deported around 100,000 illegal immigrants in the initial months of the presidency. Many individuals have been deported following Trump invoking the rarely used Alien Enemies Act of 1798, something which has been criticized and blocked by judges. ......... ICE has been conducting raids around the country. Some arrests have been viewed as heavy handed while others have wrongly targeted people suspected of having no legal status in the U.S. The raids have led to nationwide protests. ........... Rogan raised the topic of ICE raids, and said: "These ICE raids are f****** nuts man." Rogan then says he was watching a protest on television, and is asked by Oakerson if he thinks the raids are nuts, or the protests are. ........ "All of it's nuts," Rogan responds. ........ "I don't think if the Trump administration, if they're running and they said, 'We're gonna go to Home Depot and we're gonna arrest all the people at Home Depot. We're gonna go to construction sites and we're going to just like tackle people at construction sites, I don't think anybody would have signed up for that," Rogan said. ........ It's not the first time that Rogan has spoken about ICE raids. In an April episode of the podcast, he praised Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration but shared his upset at the news that the administration had deported a gay Venezuelan asylum-seeker along with a supposed member of the Tren de Aragua gang........ "It's horrific," he said at the time, adding that it was "crazy," that this could have happened........... Another round of anti-Trump protests is being planned across the U.S. for July 17. Among their goals are an end to "attacks on Black and brown Americans, immigrants, trans people, and other communities," according to protest organizers.
